Construction Begins

Despite questions over the design, location and process, the National Park Service has lost no time in beginning construction of the World War II Memorial, as the photos on this and subsequent pages show.

Construction

As seen from the grounds of the Washington Monument, construction equipment obscures the view towards the Lincoln Memorial, as will the World War II Memorial, whose walls will in some places be as high as a four-story building.
