CFA Tables Plans for Monument Security "Improvements"
At its September 19 meeting, the Commission of Fine Arts tabled the National Park Service's plans for the Washington Monument, after criticizing numerous aspects of the design and asking to see alternatives.
In testimony and letters, the National Coalition to Save Our Mall, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Committee of 100 on the Federal City, and the National Parks Conservation Association urged CFA not to take action on the plan. We commend the CFA for their actions.
