Dear Coalition Friends:
Looking for a scavenger-hunt-type activity while on the National Mall this Inauguration and MLK Jr. holiday?
Download a handy free, self-guided tour of 3 monuments--Jefferson, FDR, and Lincoln (and the MLK Jr. "I Have A Dream" marker)--entitled AMERICA'S STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM. Download it from our website, under "What's New" -- http://www.savethemall.org.
By later today, the tour will be available to download as a pocket-size, 2-fold, one page (front and back) booklet.
This tour asks questions (and provides some answers) that help you--and your family and friends--explore the words and ideas of the Declaration of Independence, FDR's Four Freedoms, the Gettysburg Address, and Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Dream" through the architecture, sculpture, inscriptions, and Mall setting of these inspiring monuments. The self-guided tour is adapted from two popular walking tours we led last year.
Also remember to download our free Mall map and historical guide, The National Mall: Stage For Our Democracy at http://www.savethemall.org. Note that we have prepared A PRINTABLE VERSION that prints out onto four 8 x 11 sheets of paper you can then assemble into the full 11 x 17 size for better readability.
