Dear Friends,
The annual Charles H. Atherton Memorial Lecture will take place on Tuesday, May 13th, 6:30 p.m., at the National Building Museum. The featured speaker Witold Rybczynski is a Commissioner on the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, where Charles Atherton served as Secretary for over 40 years.
Charles, who passed away in 2005, was a supporter of the National Coalition to Save Our Mall and the first member of our Third Century Mall Initiative Advisory Board.
In 2006, we dedicated our digitized copy of the long out-of-print, historic 1902 McMillan Commission Report on the National Mall and the park system of Washington, D.C., to his memory -- read or download the Report at: http://www.nationalmall.net/resource/mcmillan.html.
