Contact Congress

Your Congressional representatives want and need to hear from you. They cannot represent your interests if they don't know what you think, so don't be shy about writing, calling and emailing. Contrary to what you may have heard , Senators and Representatives do pay attention to what their constituents have to say.

Here's what you can do:

If you're not sure who your two Senators and your one Representative are, insert your Zip Code in the box to the right to find out. Then ...

  • Write a letter. You can create your own letter or use our sample letter to your Senators and Representative..
  • Call them. Phone your Representative and Senators. The Capitol switchboard number — 202 224-3121 — will connect you.
  • Email them. Use the sample letter or write your own. Again, the box to the right will help you find the correct email address.

Important! Be firm but polite in expressing your opinion. Also, be sure you're contacting your own Senators and Representative. Elected officials don't give much consideration to the wishes of those who live in another state or district.
